We are all products of different relationships, different belief systems, different love story and different religion coming together as one… A lot of difference you see!
I remember walking together with my clique of friends and telling each other how we would have had a better life if we weren’t from Nigeria, how we would have heard long wavy hair, or short curly blonde hair, colourful eyes and amazing skin.
“I came to Nigeria by mistake” was the common line then, oh dear child 🤦🤦🤦. I wish we knew better!
When i grew older i found out that other Nigeria families were doing well and it was possible to be a Nigerian and still be successful, i stopped blaming the country and started blaming my parents. It was like i found the problem and i broke it to my friends.
We started comparing our parents with other richer and well to do parent out there and decided maybe Nigeria was the right place to be but our parents wrong decisions has brought us to the stages we all were.
You might have outgrown this or passed this level in your life but today i am writing to my young and matured audience as well. “You are not a mistake”
Most of our problems in life started when we were kids, only a few of us enjoyed some privileges and if you can trace when the child in you was broken you can be fixed through Christ.
First thing first
“There are wrong relationships but there are no wrong children “- AJS
Children are not a mistake but a blessing from God.
You must know that you are a blessing to be a blessing.
After my days in school of basics and remedial studies (SBRS) ended i had to wait for ABU to release admission list and i took my nephews lesson every evening to while away time, you see i have an extended family so we always had a lot of Kids around, at that time my step dad’s sisters daughter was with us and she was about nine years old, she couldn’t read nor write and she had the heart to learn so she was enrolled.
That evening i was teaching them three letter words and i gave each child about ten quiet minutes with me, i will tutor you alone first before mixing the class and when it was her turn we took more than thirty minutes and she couldn’t remember any of the words, i tried every thing and when she sensed my frustration she stood up and slapped herself on the cheek, before i could stop her she threw in another hard slap and it went on until i held her hands. She said a lot about herself while crying, i was moved… we stayed like that for a while crying together, and she told me she was a mistake and she wished she was never born.
I wanted to change that thought about her but they didn’t stay long with us they had to leave.
Some of us grew up in homes that have cultured us into believing we will never amount into anything, and while they said all they wanted to about us the inner child died and was buried in their words.
Today i an writing to that inner child and i hope you find yourself and feel loved.
What has your situation pressured you into believing?
My daddy said something in one of his messages and i held on to it, he said “when you are a child you look like your parent but when you grow up you look like your decisions.”
I want you to take a good look at yourself and reflect, do you look like your parents now or your decisions, is your bank account empty because your parents are poor or because of a decision you did or did not make. Your career, your relationship, your spiritual life, reflects through all of these areas of your life and tell me who they look like…
I understand the place of attacks and spiritual patterns, regardless who or what do your life reflects right now?
I myself wasn’t raised by the wealthiest, most educated or fun driven parents but right now i don’t look like my parents, i am the decisions i have made or did not make.
Stop blaming your parents and start living…
Until you stop blaming the waves from raising you will not sail, until you stop pointing fingers at your supposed rich aunts and uncles you will not graduate from that school, until you stop blaming your ex you will not find love, some times it’s not the storm it’s the fear raising inside of you.
Stop building your life on past hurts, stop building your life on your parents past mistakes
A friend of mine was given birth to out of wedlock and she was constantly reminded by her aunts and uncles that she was going to get wasted and have her own children outside marriage just like her mom and she lived every single day on that declaration. Thank God she didn’t get pregnant because instead of laying on the bed they laid with their tongues she got up and went in search of purpose. She said ” Lima i was so afraid of their words becoming flesh that i had to discover myself and find out what God has in store for me.”
The fact that you were raised by blind parents doesn’t make you blind, chose sight…
Nothing abides forever except the word of God, stop the pity-party, you are wasting energy, start fighting.
Be raised by God!
Another of my close friends has hawked everything you can imagine, yes on his head with a tray. No, his parents weren’t hawkers it was his decision and today he is a great entrepreneur. I’m sure i would have seen him then and take pity on him but today his decision to be an entrepreneur is paying the bills. Of course he didn’t do it out of free will, he had to in order to help his parents and in order to survive, if he has seen hawking as a challenge then today he would have been subscribing to every YouTube channel and going from one master class to another to be a good entrepreneur but right now people subscribe to watch him.
For some of us the systems we were raised still stands as our subscriptions to a better tomorrow, stop seeing it as a challenge, we subscribe for the experience.
Your access to a better tomorrow depends on your understanding of today, get understanding. Decide today to get understanding!
Five important decisions to secure a better tomorrow
Decide to have an encounter with God (serve God)
Decide to forgive your past and outgrow every limitation. (Family patterns, altars and foundation)
Decide to pay the price to become better (branding)
Every decision has a risk factor, decide to still make the right choice no matter the situation.
Decide to be financially free (there is this saying that money stops nonsense, trust me it stops you from pointing fingers at people.)
Decide to find knowledge and get wisdom…
I know right, i said five but trust me, sometimes you make more than five decisions in a day.
Create the change you want to see, you want a wealthy parent become wealthy, you want your children to become like you then make the right decisions today, trust God to make you a change agent.
You were raised by your parent to become a better version of yourself not them, may they never lose their relevance in our eyes.
Some of you folks have wealthy parents and you are just waiting for them to pass it down or leave it behind, it is well with you. Don’t live your life like that, if they pass it down let it be a blessing if they leave it behind let it be their legacy!
Happy new year, love😍😘💖
